Breakfasts.
Aren't breakfasts such aesthetic meals? Aren't they healthy too? Well, they should be— but not in my case.
I had always been a breakfast person in my childhood; I'd eat a full one at school and on weekends have eggs, toast and a lot of vegetables. This didn't really change until recently when I became more aware of my food choices and how they made me feel. I really do miss just eating for the pleasure of it, since these days, everything I eat affects my body profoundly and I can discern which type of food gave me the bloating or gas or even the daunted mood. So, I decided to stop eating breakfast since it didn't really portray its aesthetic pleasure unto me.
I tried countless times to manifest a breakfast to make me feel optimal but to no avail. I tried normal cheese sandwiches, cereal, yoghurt and fruits but they all left me extremely jittery and energetic at first then awfully drained out of energy. I think what works best with me is to have a carrot, some fruits and tea and that's it— nothing too calorie-dense. I like energy but not when I'm forced to sit at home for the morning and just feel this vigour swallow me with apprehension. However, on days when I actually go for a run, I usually have a beautiful balanced breakfast afterwards and it does make me feel alleviated; an abundance of fruits and yoghurt with some oats does make one feel particularly amazing.
I know I've got a problem with my metabolism, but it's only my Hashimotos, I guess. Maybe due to my disordered eating in the past, I ruined my body's ability to utilise energy efficiently, without giving me all the anxiety and tension associated with food. But it's okay— I'm working on it because I've got no other choice. I just wish I were more aware of the impacts of my decisions earlier, and that opens the door to what changes I need to make in my society. My mistakes are a reflection of the weaknesses, either within me or in my surrounding and I think the best alternative is to be a remedial instrument, to help raise awareness about things that hurt us because even the most unique troubles could affect others, in different times and places.

All what I'm here to say is that, not all bodies are the same and there's no rule that says you should eat breakfasts or lunch or supper like everyone else. Even if the whole world affirms the benefits of certain food habits, they don't always have to comply to you. Everyone goes through certain circumstances like illnesses and lifestyles that make our body different in terms of food assimilation and absorption. Take your time to find the balance which makes living seem effortless, find a routine that adapts to your happiness and wellness without forgetting to cherish your body and nourish it. Food is so important, it reminds us that we are not independent beings; we rely on our external environment to become functional.
With or without breakfasts, you can still be healthy. Don't listen to all the diet news out there without testing it critically on yourself and be aware of the changes. Do what's best for you, even when it comes to food.
