Have A Vision.
I'm a business student, which means I'm constantly bombarded with the phrase "mission and vision statements" that entrepreneurs should develop for their organisations. It took me quite a while to actually understand what it means to have a vision and every single day, I get more in tune of what it really is. Honestly speaking, it would be thrilling to just live your life in order to reach your vision.
A vision does not have to a career path, though it can because I believe we define ourself in this world with what we do. Your job doesn't have to be what you do, and I don't think a career comprises your job and only that. Surprisingly, a career is all the efforts you put into your position, whether emotional, intellectual or physical. Career is not just your job, it's any occupation that you undertake to show progress and reach your potentials. Being a housewife is certainly a very demanding career and people need to be okay with the diversity of careers present in the real world. Let go of all the standards being put there!
So going back to the vision, it is the image of the person you'd like to be in the future. Only that, that image is not only a picture but an emotional and soulful analysis of that person you want to be. I mean, many people want to see themselves as rock stars, but they know they're not ready for the constant pressure and lack of privacy. Your vision is a deep aspect of yourself, and it is truly a very enlightening part of your identity. Take your vision as the key to understanding the dimensions of your character, where all the things you've learned and experienced fit.
Your vision is really crucial in the path of inter and intrapersonal development. It should be a guide on how you deal with yourself and others; the choices you make, decisions, time-management.. everything. So many people forget that they do have a vision and get caught up by many unnecessary activities that just suck up the potential energy they inherently have to pursue what they want in their lives.
Personally, I have a tough time defining who I really want to be in the future. Perhaps it's that I'm still young and inexperienced of the possible paths I'm supposed to take, but I at least know an outline. I want to be emotionally-balanced for example, an inspiration for others, a positive woman who never stops growing. But in what position? Well, that I'm not so sure of yet, and I'm okay with it.
All I know is that I love nature, and would like to live a life helping the Earth by sustainable and eco-friendly living. Also, I think my life will take the route of human development and spiritual guidance because these are things I'm really good at— they just click to me, you know?
It's not too late for you to come up with a vision, but you have to start once you're aware. It helps all of us tremendously; it makes you make better decisions about career choices, relationships and even the type of people you spend your time with. Everything you choose to become a part of your life has to be an element of growth and spiritual-awakening, and well, even the things you can't control, it's possible to make them journeys to learn and gain so much experience, converting hardships into such positive and impacting lessons. Whether it is a disease or poverty, make it relate to your vision. Make it be a part of who you are. Then you'll find yourself automatically wanting it to become a beautiful part in you rather than a victimising and weakening one.
Take your time, but I think we as humans were built to have this kind of vision for ourselves. And it's okay if your vision changes, because as we grow, we learn things we didn't know earlier and it's completely fine. Just make sure to fall asleep knowing that (maybe) you're going to wake up just to take an additional step towards your soul and not away from it.
Happy soul-searching journey!
